Hi, I’m Mason Vollmer.

I’m a Horticultural Educator. What’s that? I grow gardens that grow people and I’d like to help your garden nurture you & your community in ways you’ve only dreamed of...

Since the 1970’s after learning about Waldorf Education and Biodynamic farming and gardening, I’ve been involved in growing community, school, therapeutic, and vocational gardens. I’ve been giving talks on a wide range of gardening topics including: Botany, Soils, Composting, School Gardening, Accessible Gardening, and more. Recently, the greatest interest I’ve encountered has been around the Art and Science of Espalier and the Spindle method of growing apple trees.

I’ve put together my first webinar and companion booklet so that you too may enjoy the beauty and productivity of small apple trees in your school, community, or backyard garden. Manzanita means ‘little apple’. My hope is that this format will be more accessible to you as well as easier on my schedule to be able to add more courses in response to your interest and questions.

While starting this project, I was asked to observe and evaluate a school garden teacher and program at the Waldorf School of Atlanta and this reignited my passion for the importance of this work and I look forward to expanding on this if the interest is out there.  Let me know what interests you most. Warmly, Mason Vollmer
